Sixers CEO: New practice facility will be 'best in the history of the NBA'
The Philadelphia 76ers plan on opening up a new practice facility on Camden, New Jersey's waterfront by August 2016, and the team's CEO, Scott O'Neil, has grandiose expectations for how it will look.
Here's what he recently said at the Chamber of Commerce of Southern New Jersey, per the Philadelphia Daily News' Shamus Clancy:
"I think you've seen some of the work that has been done. The tax credits have brought up tremendous development by the waterfront. We're looking to be a part of something really special. And hopefully, 10 years down the road, if we can be just a small part of the renaissance in the city. We'd love to play that role."
The Sixers are the only team in the league that doesn't have their own practice facility, and this could be a huge get. Philadelphia's rebuild hasn't progressed without its fair share of bumps along the way, but the darkest days are likely in the rearview mirror, and by the time this facility opens the Sixers could be ready to compete for much more than the lottery.
