Should Dallas target Arron Afflalo in free agency?
The Mavericks should look very different next season. Almost their entire roster is headed for free agency, and after a disappointing loss to the Houston Rockets, they'll likely try to add a few new faces into the mix.
Here's the FanSided Mavericks blog SportDFW with a look at one potential target: Arron Afflalo:
"If the Mavs decide to look at options past the defensively inept Monta Ellis, Afflalo could be an excellent find. At 29, Afflalo still has plenty left in the tank. Assuming the shoulder is now 100%, he would provide strong perimeter defense to a team severely lacking in that area. He’s not nearly the scoring threat that Ellis is, but he’s a proven double-digit guy who plays more efficiently and at a much lower cost."
From O.J. Mayo to Monta Ellis, Dallas is known for rehabilitating shooting guards who have serious talent but have yet to unlock all they have to offer. Afflalo can be the next guy on that list. He's coming off a disappointing second half of the season with the Portland Trail Blazers, but has proven to be a capable two-way player.
Landing him on an agreeable contract, in his prime, could be tremendously beneficial.
