Richard Dumas gets probation for thefts on military base

Former Phoenix Suns forward Richard Dumas has been sentenced to three years of probation in a case stemming from thefts from a store on a military base.

Dumas was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Sam Myers of Maricopa County Superior Court under a plea agreement with prosecutors.

The 45-year-old Dumas pleaded guilty Dec. 11 to two felony counts of theft stemming from offenses on two dates in September 2012.

Authorities say Dumas stole about $800 worth of merchandise from a Luke Air Force Base store while working with a janitorial service. They say Dumas was seen on surveillance cameras taking cigarettes, alcohol, food, DVDs and shoes.

Dumas played for the Suns from 1992-95 and helped Phoenix reach the NBA Finals in 1993. He was waived after missing a drug test.
