Report: Suns to open season against Mavericks, Tyson Chandler's old team
Once all of the upheaval and drama of the offseason is over, the Phoenix Suns will eventually get back to playing basketball on the court. No, really. It's the honest-to-goodness truth. And according to Paul Coro of the Arizona Republic, the Suns will take on a familiar foe to open the season on October 28.
Coro reports that the Suns will face the Dallas Mavericks in Phoenix for their first game of the year. It will also serve as the first game played in the newly rechristened arena formerly known as US Airways Center.
Phoenix would certainly like to start the season with a win, as Dallas could be one of the teams the Suns end up jostling with for one of the final playoff berths in the Western Conference. And while August might seem an odd time to start being concerned about such things, every single game counts when records are being stacked up against each other at the end of the season.
