Report: Jazz's Dante Exum 'really disappointed' after injury
When an injury like the non-contact variety that Utah Jazz point guard Dante Exum suffered happens, emotions can fall into one of two categories. On the one hand, there's the fear for the worst. And on the other, there's the hope for the best.
The Jazz are going through a little bit of both right now, with reports that the team fears Exum suffered a torn ACL while playing for his Australian national team. And according to Exum's Jazz and Australian teammate Joe Ingles, Exum is disappointed and anxious to find out the extent of his injury, too:
"He’s really disappointed and wants to know what it is as well. He’s just a bit down at the moment," Ingles said, according to FOX Sports Australia. "He was excited to go and play for the Boomers again and get ready for this [Rio Olympics], but really it’s disappointing because he is a great kid and works extremely hard."
Ingles added that if it is a torn ACL, he thinks that the 2016 Olympics could be Exum's first return to game action. Whether the Jazz would be keen on that notion is another matter entirely. The team has publicly supported Exum's decision to play internationally, even after the injury, and says that it will continue do to do so for any of its young players who want to develop their game in the summer. When push comes to shove, however, it might be tough for Utah to stand by those statements, especially if Exum's injury is severe.
