Pierce didn't ban teammates from wearing LeBron's shoes after all

Earlier this week, Washington Wizards center Marcin Gortat told a reporter that Paul Pierce didn't want any of his teammates wearing LeBron James' signature sneaker. Pierce and LeBron have a long rivalry and they legitimately don't like each other, so it made sense.

But according to SB Nation, the Wizards could always wear whatever shoes they want, dating back to a few years ago when a few former Wizards told Mike Miller he couldn't wear LeBron's shoe either:

It was fun to imagine Pierce barking at his teammates and demanding they take off their sneakers. But, alas, it appears not to be true.

But while this all makes for a good story, it turns out that everyone was just joking. A Wizards communications rep told SB Nation that not only did Miller continue wearing LeBron's shoes that season, but DeJuan Blair actually wore them this year. So, Pierce's ban didn't really apply and wasn't much of a mandate at all.
