Mavs well represented in international play this summer
The Dallas Mavericks will be heavily represented during international play this summer for EuroBasket.
Dirk Nowitzki will make his return back to international play with the German team, but multiple other Mavericks will also be playing this offseason.
Here's more from Earl K. Sneed at Mavs.com:
"Leading the German team into battle with the group stage of EuroBasket being played in Frankfurt in September, Nowitzki will certainly shoulder a heavy load while attempting to qualify his home country for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
However, the likes of reserve guard J.J. Barea, second-year big man Dwight Powell and summer signee Salah Mejri are also making waves while competing for their respective countries this offseason. And according to Mavs coach Rick Carlisle, the international experience of his players could prove beneficial to the team this upcoming season.
“There are instances when playing on a national team can be akin to a really good base preparation for training camp,” Carlisle explained following the conclusion of the Mavs’ 2014-15 season.
He added: “I understand the geographic implications. … And by rule, an NBA organization is not allowed to discourage a player from playing in any kind of international things or FIBA things.”
