Listen to the unlikely song that fueled MJ's famous shot over Ehlo (AUDIO)
Memories of Michael Jordan are inevitable this time of year. His Airness ruled many things during his prime, but basketball in June is on top of the list for the six-time NBA champion.
A bit of digging through his glory has landed us on a surprising anecdote, though. Before MJ was the league's undisputed best player, he was an up-and-comer who won slam-dunk contests and hit a legendary playoff-series-winning shot over Craig Ehlo and the Cleveland Cavaliers.
When asked what song he listened to before the famous moment, Jordan had an unexpected answer. Chicago's WBEZ has the word:
"At the end of the game, Jordan is interviewed by James Brown (now on CBS football), and James asks, 'Now I know you have a song that you listen to before every game to get you pumped up. Tell us what it is . . .' Jordan then says, 'Anita Baker, Giving the Best.' "
The song is even less conventional than you think, in terms of motivational sports fare. Give it a listen here:
