Lakers open at 66:1 odds to win 2016 NBA title
From the look of things, oddsmakers are neither more optimistic nor down on the Los Angeles Lakers for next season.
Mark Medina of the Los Angeles Daily News reports that online bookmaker Bovada opened the lines for next season's title odds with the Lakers at 66:1 to win the 2016 NBA title. It's the same odds Los Angeles had before the start of the season; of course, we all know how this past season went.
But the Lakers should be markedly better in 2015-16. They'll have the addition of the No. 2 overall pick, a healthy Julius Randle and, hopefully, more of Kobe Bryant than they had last season. Los Angeles probably isn't going to win the title one out of every 67 times, as these odds imply, but that's the price of being a public team.
