Knicks Trade Rumors: LeBron James Attempting To Force Carmelo Anthony Trade

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 3:57 p.m. ET

According to a recent report, LeBron James is attempting to force a trade for Carmelo Anthony. Will the Cleveland Cavaliers and New York Knicks agree?

The New York Knicks and Carmelo Anthony could be approaching the end of a once promising marriage. Anthony has improved his individual production, but the Knicks haven’t been winning at an even remotely consistent level.

As the Knicks continue to stumble down the rankings, the Cavaliers’ franchise player may be attempting to bring Anthony to Cleveland.

The Knicks and Cavaliers previously discussed a trade centered around Anthony, but talks ultimately fell through. Cleveland was reportedly opposed to the asking price of All-Star power forward Kevin Love.

According to Frank Isola of The New York Daily News, LeBron James is now attempting to push the Cavaliers to make a trade for Anthony—even if it costs Love.

According to a league source, LeBron is the one pushing the Cleveland Cavaliers front office to acquire Carmelo even if it means trading Kevin Love, which is something Cavs management is opposed to doing.

If this report proves true, then the trade deadline will be as thrilling as ever before.
