Knicks to work out Justise Winslow on Monday

With the fourth pick in the draft, the Knicks will have their options of who to select. The three names we keep hearing most? Emmanuel Mudiay, D'Angelo Russell and Justise Winslow.

Now, we have some news on Winslow, courtesy of ESPN's Ian Begley:

Winslow averaged 12.6 points and 6.5 rebounds in helping lead Duke to a national championship this past season. He is still just 19 years old.

The New York Knicks will host Justise Winslow for an individual workout on Monday, a league source confirmed.

ESPN’s Chad Ford reported shortly after the NBA Lottery last month that the Knicks were “big fans” of Winslow, a versatile forward from Duke.

New York has the fourth pick in the draft. If the club selects Winslow fourth, it would be going against traditional thinking.

Most draft observers see Winslow being selected outside of the top four.

One reason the Knicks could seriously consider Winslow is his potential to make an impact on defense.

New York struggled mightily on that end last season, finishing 28th in defensive efficiency and 30th in opponent 3-point field goal percentage.

Winslow is 6-7 with a 6-10 wingspan, so he projects to be able to defend multiple positions. Scouts say one of Winslow’s strengths is his lateral quickness, which could help the Knicks slow down opponents on the perimeter.
