Kevin Durant explains why he thinks Russell Westbrook is 'our best player'
Two days ago, Oklahoma City Thunder superstar Kevin Durant called teammate Russell Westbrook "our best player."
When asked to clarify what he meant by that comment before the Thunder's 104-98 loss to the Chicago Bulls, Durant stood by his statement, according to The Daily Oklahoman:
This answer makes more sense. Durant is known for his humility and being great -- he's always been one of Westbrook's biggest public supporters. As he said, there are nights when they'll trade off being the Thunder's best player (Dion Waiters, not so much).
Most people know Durant is the better player -- even if Westbrook is playing better right now -- but if it takes some public maneuvering to get Westbrook to play at an even higher level, then credit Durant for knowing what he's doing.
"That's how I feel. And he feels the same about me,” Durant said. “We hold each other on that pedestal. That's what makes us great teammates. I believe he's the best player in the world, and he believes the same about me. Of course I'm gonna say that. There's gonna be nights where I'm the best player on the team. There's gonna be nights where he's the best player on the team, when Dion (Waiters) is the best player on the team. That's how I feel about my teammates. A lot of people may read into it but any given night it's different."
