Kenny Smith reveals details behind Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan's reunion
Charles Barkley and Michael Jordan had an impromptu reunion last month, after years of silence following their severed friendship, and Kenny Smith revealed the details of that meeting this week.
"It wasn't awkward. It wasn't any real beef, I don't think," Smith told TMZ. "But I'm always Switzerland, man. I'm always the neutral guy, man. I'm able to bring people together."
Smith was with Barkley in New York at the Broadcasting and Cable Hall of Fame ceremony, and Smith said Jordan, his former North Carolina teammate, joined them to congratulate them.
Barkley and Jordan hadn't spoken for years — a rift that Barkley spoke about publicly and attributed to critical comments he made about Jordan as an NBA team owner.
But Jordan was able to bury the hatchet, and Smith said he might be able to get them together again.
"Sometimes it's overexaggerated," Smith said of the reported rift. "But it was no tension. It was all love, high fives, and that was it.
"If I hang out with Mike, he'll hang out with us."
