Hornets GM Rich Cho wants Batum and MKG starting together
The acquisition of Nicolas Batum raised an interesting question for the Charlotte Hornets: given that Batum is a more natural three, what happens to Michael Kidd-Gilchrist, the incumbent and still developing starter at that position?
On his post-trade conference call, Rich Cho answered the question simply: they'd both start.
"'Yes, [Nicolas] is a wing, so we see him starting at the two-guard spot with MKG starting at the three. [Nicolas] has played two and three in his career.'"
Traditional positions matter little in today's NBA. What's more important is the overall lineup, and how much spacing it provides. Playing MKG and Batum together won't be an issue because Batum will be able to space the floor, something the Hornets haven't been able to do for some time.
