Four Teams Confirmed to Have Inquired About Jahlil Okafor
The Philadelphia 76ers were engaged in NBA rumors, and sat Jahlil Okafor on Saturday because of it. Four teams are interested in him.
The NBA rumors are heating up with the trade deadline coming up towards the end of this month. With the Philadelphia 76ers being heavily involved, and with the team having some clear pieces that they need to move, it’s no surprise that their name is being brought up more than any other team right now.
The Sixers reportedly sat Jahlil Okafor during Saturday’s game because talks were heating up with him, and they didn’t want to risk him getting injured. The New Orleans Pelicans seem to be leading the pack with getting Okafor, but with them being stingy with some of the assets they want to offer back to the Sixers in return, it’s unclear if a deal will get done with New Orleans.
There are three other strong suitors who have talked with the Sixers about the team sending Okafor their way, according to Alex Kennedy. Those teams are the Chicago Bulls (a team that was rumored earlier this month), the Portland Trail Blazers, and Denver Nuggets.
The Blazers and Bulls make sense, but the Denver Nuggets are a bit confusing. The team has a center situation that isn’t quite fluid like some of the other teams.
Wherever Okafor ends up, it looks like he’s on the move. He had left the arena before the media was allowed in the locker room after Saturday night’s game, and reportedly said by to some of his teammates on Saturday with the expectation that he would be traded. At this point, with the talks being so strong with the Sixers about Okafor, and with so many teams, it would be an absolute shock if the team didn’t move Okafor by the trade deadline.
