Erman may get replaced from within
The Boston Celtics may not go outside their own organization to replace recently departed coach Darren Erman after all.
According to the Boston Herald's Mark Murphy, general manager Danny Ainge said Erman was added to a full staff last season, and the team didn't necessarily need to hire him after assistant coach Ron Adams left for the Golden State Warriors.
"I wasn’t going to put any pressure on Brad, because Brad didn’t really know Erm. I was doing it until we found something. It took about two or three weeks when Brad gobbled him up. But we have a full staff, and we’re not in a rush to add anyone. He was part of our defensive staff. Brad, Micah (Shrewsberry) and Erm are our three defensive coaches. Micah was doing it all before, and Erm brought in a new taste and opinion. We may just replace him from within now. It’s not that we have to replace him. There’s only so much air in the room."
Erman left Boston last week to join Alvin Gentry's staff as an associate head coach for the New Orleans Pelicans. It's always nice to add a fresh mind who can offer different thoughts than whatever's already in place, but Boston's coaching staff is already one of the smartest in the league.
They seem fine as is.
