Denver Nuggets: Week 9 NBA Power Rankings
Gary Harris comes back to lead the Denver Nuggets higher up the NBA Power Rankings
Gary Harris came back from an injured foot just in time for the Denver Nuggets to face Portland on December 15th. As of the writing of this column, the Denver Nuggets sit only one game outside of the playoffs. Yes, they also moved up their average across the three national media power rankings. Their average currently sits at 19.67. This is all very good news for a team that has had a fair amount of challenges and injuries with the first 25 or so games to start the season.
The Blazers and Knicks both look to be playoff teams this season so putting up 259 points against these two opponents sends a message. However, both of these teams have their defensive issues just like the Nuggets. So the excitement that has been recently generated may need to be tempered just a bit.
During these two victories, the rotations look little more settled. One of the most interesting developments with the rotations is seeing Jusuf Nurkic‘s minutes cut to under ten a game. Nikola Jokic, Wilson Chandler and Harris being inserted into the starting lineup has helped with floor spacing and seems to have brought out the best in Danilo Gallinari and Emmanuel Mudiay.
Kenneth Faried also seems to have benefited from coming off the bench again. He was definitely the Manimal during the win over the Knicks. This week has three games against Dallas and Atlanta at home and the Clippers on the road. With Blake Griffin being once again injured all three of these games are winnable. Excited to see if these rotations and winning ways stick.
I could go on about the move up the NBA charts. But wanted to give everyone a shout out to check the charity work the Nuggets have recently done. From turkeys to coat drives to various other projects. This team has players that are easy to root for and like. It is stuff like this gives me a good feeling about the guys. This good feeling goes above and beyond the points scored and victories achieved.
Happy Holidays to all of the Nugg Love Readers.
