Could Greg Oden come back with the Mavericks?
According to a recent report from Shams Charania at Real GM, Greg Oden is on the comeback trail.
The former No. 1 overall pick in the 2007 NBA Draft is slated to be a part of a free agent mini-camp for the Dallas Mavericks, and he previously had a workout for the Charlotte Hornets.
Oden sat out all of last season and was last seen with the Miami Heat during the 2013-14 season, where he received sparse playing time.
If Oden looks healthy and shows well in his workouts, would he make sense with the Dallas Mavericks?
Here's Matthew Rothstein at Dime with more:
Dallas seems like it makes the most sense as a destination for Oden. Tyson Chandler is an unrestricted free agent with no guarantee to return (especially as the Mavericks might be chasing DeAndre Jordan), and whatever the Mavericks do this offseason, chances are they’re going to need to fill some roster spots on the cheap if they get the players they want.
And considering Dallas was already paper-thin in the frontcourt last year, not only are they one of the teams most likely to need a player like Oden, they might be the team most likely to play him.
