Coach Quin Snyder: Jazz defense like riding bike, but 'it's rusty'
The Utah Jazz will go as far as their defense takes them. And although it shouldn't be too difficult for the team to pick up where it left off in 2014-15, coach Quin Snyder isn't taking anything for granted.
As the second day of practice wrapped up on Tuesday, Snyder told reporters that the team's defense is like riding a bike. While that metaphor often implies a smooth ride, Snyder said that there's maintenance to be done on Utah's mode of transportation (via the Deseret News):
"Hopefully, you never forget how to do it, but if you haven’t ridden the bike in a while, you have to put the chain back on, the seat may be too low, it’s rusty, the tires are flat; so, we need to get our bike back in shape."
With that said, Snyder allowed that the team has been "pretty solid" in its defensive drills so far, with Gordon Hayward seconding the sentiment, saying the team was "really on point" in drills.
Utah has questions to answer on offense. But just because the team was good on defense last year doesn't mean the Jazz are about to rest on their laurels on that end of the floor.
