Brandon Jennings aims to be back in action by August
Things were going so well for Brandon Jennings. After languishing under shaky leadership for the better part of his career with the Milwaukee Bucks and Detroit Pistons, his tremendous upside was looking like it would never be maximized.
Enter Stan Van Gundy. In the Pistons coach's first year on the job, Jennings had a renaissance season, leading the team through a winning winter before injuring his Achilles tendon and falling out for the season.
Thankfully, the point guard is going through his recovery with a lot of optimism and speed. "My goal is to be back to up and running in August, and actually really getting after it. So that gives me August and September and October to get ready," he recently said, per Vince Ellis of the Detroit Free Press.
"We're definitely going to compete," Jennings said of his team. "It's my last year of my deal. So it's a big year for me. The fact I'm on my last year, the fact that I've been learning about other things, my body and everything like that, I definitely know what time it is."
