Aron Baynes on why he chose Detroit

Published Aug. 11, 2015 3:29 p.m. ET

Former San Antonio Spurs center Aron Baynes made waves around the league when he signed with the Detroit Pistons for a three-year deal worth as much as $20 million.

Was it all about the money for Baynes, though? He recently told Keith Langlois of Pistons.com the reasons why he came to Detroit:

“You have to weigh all those options and figure out what’s the best spot,” Baynes said. “Detroit was good on all counts. I like the young team they have here, the direction they’re heading and what I think we can do with the team we have now. I’m excited to be a part of it and I can’t wait to get in amongst the guys when we all come together as a team and start working toward our goals.”
