Amir Johnson throws down nasty reverse dunk at USA Basketball scrimmage
Boston Celtics forward Amir Johnson made a somewhat surprising appearance at USA Basketball's scrimmage on Thursday night. Despite not being one of the country's 34 invitees to Team USA's three-day minicamp, Johnson still put on his nation's colors and competed in an entertaining, albeit pointless, August exhibition.
Johnson finished with eight points and four rebounds in 16 minutes of action, according to MassLive's Jay King. He was also responsible for a few highlight plays, including this nifty reverse dunk and this boneheaded turnover in which Johnson completely forgets who Kawhi Leonard is.
The 28-year-old signed a two-year, $24 million contract with Boston last month. The second year on the deal is non-guaranteed. He averaged 8.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per game in six seasons with the Toronto Raptors, and is expected to be one of the Celtics' best rim protectors next year.
