Stubbs back with Rangers in camp after signing minor deal

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 6:17 p.m. ET

SURPRISE, Ariz. (AP) Drew Stubbs rejoined the Texas Rangers on Saturday, when the outfielder was in their big league camp after finalizing a minor league deal.

The Rangers also agreed to terms on one-year contracts with 17 players, including leadoff-hitting center fielder Delino DeShields, second baseman Rougned Odor and reliever Keone Kela.

Stubbs finished last season with Texas after being released by Colorado.

With left fielder Josh Hamilton set to start this season on the disabled list because of left knee issues, Stubbs provides some depth in the outfield.

The Rangers used Stubbs primarily as a defensive replacement and pinch runner last year. He had only 21 at-bats in 27 regular-season games but appeared in four of the five Division Series games for the AL West champions.
