Rangers' Adolis Garcia wins 2023 ALCS MVP after historic series

Star Texas Rangers right fielder Adolis García was named the 2023 ALCS MVP after a historic series capped off by a two-home-run, five-RBI performance in the Rangers' 11-4 win over the Houston Astros in Game 7.

García finished with 15 RBIs in the ALCS, breaking the MLB record for most RBIs in a single playoff series. That mark was previously held by Nelson Cruz, who did so in the 2011 ALCS — as the slugging right fielder for the Texas Rangers, just like García. His five home runs — all hit within the series' final four games — are also tied for second-most all-time in a postseason series behind Cruz's six in that 2011 ALCS.

García is also on pace to set the MLB record for total RBIs in a single postseason. He is currently tied with his now-teammate Corey Seager for second-most all-time with 20 (Seager set his mark in 2020 with the Los Angeles Dodgers), just one behind David Freese, who was the hero for the St. Louis Cardinals in the 2011 World Series against the Rangers.

Garcia also became the first player with a multi-homer game in a playoff Game 7 since Johnny Damon in 2004.
