Orioles' two-sport prospect Pat Connaughton is pretty athletic
Pat Connaughton, a fourth-round pick by the Baltimore Orioles in 2014, certainly looks like a promising pitching prospect. In his first taste of professional baseball last season, he went 0-1 with a 2.45 ERA in 14.2 innings with 10 strikeouts for the Aberdeen IronBirds. However, he showed off his athletic ability this weekend, absolutely throwing it down for Notre Dame in the NCAA Tournament:

The two-sport star doesn't have to pick one sport to focus on right now, and, according to Boston.com, it doesn't seem as if he is eager to do so just yet:
"If I had a sport that I liked more, I would probably be playing a single sport right now," he told reporters on the eve of the Sweet 16. "So the way I look at it is I've been playing both of them my whole life, I don't want to burn a bridge before I see what's across that bridge, and I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't give up on one before I saw it through."
And as he told USA Today, the Orioles love that he has had the opportunity to take time off from pitching:
"If I had a sport that I liked more, I would probably be playing a single sport right now," he told reporters on the eve of the Sweet 16. "So the way I look at it is I've been playing both of them my whole life, I don't want to burn a bridge before I see what's across that bridge, and I made a promise to myself that I wouldn't give up on one before I saw it through."
For now, it's unclear which direction (or directions) Connaughton will take, but one thing is for sure: the kid can ball.
