Oregon WR Devon Allen wins indoor 60-meter hurdle championship

Oregon WR Devon Allen made a strong case on Saturday that he’s completely back from a devastating knee injury and has returned to being the fastest man in college football – and guaranteed himself a spot on our Freaks list for next season.

The 21-year-old Allen, who had won the 2014 outdoor 110-meter hurdle championship as a freshman but sat out the 2015 track season after tearing his ACL in the Ducks 2015 Rose Bowl romp over FSU; won the NCAA indoor 60-meter hurdle championship in 7.56 seconds Saturday.

Before his injury, Allen won his 110-hurdle title with a time of 13.16 seconds-the second-fastest time in NCAA history and his best time in the 60 meter indoor was 7.83 seconds.

Allen caught 41 passes for 684 yards and seven TDs in 2014 and was considered the Ducks' most consistent receiver by their coaches. He caught nine passes for 94 yards and zero TDs in limited action for Oregon in 2015. He has said he hopes to make a run at the 2016 Olympics in Rio. The U.S. trials for the Olympic team are July 1-10 in Oregon and the Olympics take place Aug. 5-21 in Brazil. The Ducks open their football season Sept. 3 vs. UC-Davis before Virginia visits the following week.

"I'd probably miss like the first game," Allen told the Register-Guard in December. "Other than that, I'll fly back and get back into practice."
