Lyles, defensive TD lead Jackson State over UAPB 32-20

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) Brent Lyles threw two touchdown passes and Jackson State benefited from a defensive touchdown to defeat Arkansas-Pine Bluff 32-20 on Saturday.

Jackson State (1-3, 1-1 Southwestern Athletic Conference) built a 25-10 halftime lead, but UAPB drew within five in the third quarter after Brandon Duncan's 3-yard touchdown pass to Nicholas Woodfork and Jamie Gillan's 46-yard field goal.

After the field goal, Lyles went 3 for 3 on the next drive and found Shaquille Ward from 15 yards to put the Tigers back up by two scores. Lyles finished 14 of 24 for 225 yards.

Jackson State went up 15-0 in the first quarter on Jordan Johnson's 48-yard touchdown run and Justin Jemison's 71-yard interception return for a score.

Duncan went 25 for 39 for 267 yards and two touchdowns for UAPB (1-3, 1-1).
