Casey Lawrence - Added to roster The Mariners selected Lawrence's contract from Triple-A Tacoma on Wednesday.

Impact Lawrence had made two starts with Tacoma this season, allowing five runs with an 8:3 K:BB over 10.1 innings. The veteran righty will give Seattle some length in the bullpen for now, but he could get a look as the club's No. 5 starter if Luis F. Castillo is unable to hold down a back-end rotation spot while George Kirby (shoulder) remains on the injured list.

Ryan Bliss - Shelved by biceps tear The Mariners placed Bliss on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a left biceps tear.

Impact Bliss appeared to suffer the injury on a swing during Tuesday's game against the Astros. He managed to stay in that contest, but subsequent testing revealed that he suffered a tear that is likely to sideline him for a significant period of time. Miles Mastrobuoni is at second base Wednesday, but Dylan Moore is likely to see the bulk of the starts at the keystone once Jorge Polanco (side) is able to play third base again.

Luis Castillo - Labors through five shutout innings Castillo didn't factor into the decision Tuesday against the Astros after allowing five hits and two walks in five scoreless innings, striking out six.

Impact Castillo notably escaped a bases-loaded jam in the fourth inning by getting Cam Smith to fly out. The right-hander scattered five singles and was also able to register his first scoreless start of the campaign Tuesday, but he did labor his way through five frames while needing 102 pitches to complete the outing.
