Oviedo didn't factor into the decision Wednesday against the Cubs, allowing four runs on five hits and three walks over five innings. He struck out three.
Impact
The Cubs got to Oviedo early Wednesday, scoring four runs on four hits, including a pair of homers, in the first inning. However, the right-hander managed to settle in and blank Chicago over his final four frames, allowing just one additional hit. Cam Sanders - Sent back to Triple-A
The Pirates optioned Sanders to Triple-A Indianapolis on Wednesday, Colin Beazley of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports.
Impact
Sanders was up with the Pirates for just three days following his call-up from Triple-A Indianapolis and made his lone appearance Monday, when he gave up a run in 1.2 innings out of the bullpen in Pittsburgh's 4-0 loss to the Cubs. He'll give up his spot on the 28-man active roster to right-hander Yohan Ramirez (personal), who was reinstated from the paternity list.

Oneil Cruz - Idle Wednesday
Cruz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact
Cruz has now exited the starting nine in four of the Pirates' last seven games, though three of his absences have come with left-handed pitchers on the bump for the opposition. He'll cede center field to Alexander Canario on Wednesday as the Cubs send southpaw Matthew Boyd to the bump for the series finale.

Nick Yorke - Receiving regular playing time
Yorke will start in right field and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact
Yorke will stick in the lineup for the fifth straight contest and for the seventh time in eight games. He's yet to take advantage of receiving ample playing time in September, as he's slashing just .167/.189/.222 with no home runs, one stolen base, five RBI and one run in 37 plate appearances since being recalled from Triple-A Indianapolis at the start of the month.

Spencer Horwitz - Resting against lefty
Horwitz is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cubs.
Impact
The left-handed-hitting Horwitz will hit the bench for the series finale while the Cubs send southpaw Matthew Boyd to the bump. Rafael Flores will step in for Horwitz on Wednesday to make his first MLB start.

Henry Davis - Out of Wednesday's lineup
Davis is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Cubs.
Impact
Davis started Tuesday's game, but this will be the third time he's been out of the lineup over the last four contests. Prior to that, he had started four times over a five-game stretch. Joey Bart will be behind the dish and batting fifth Wednesday.

Rafael Flores - Making MLB debut at first base
Flores is starting at first base and batting eighth in Wednesday's game versus the Cubs.
Impact
Flores was summoned from Triple-A Indianapolis on Tuesday and will make his major-league debut Wednesday. The Pirates started Henry Davis at catcher Tuesday and are going with Joey Bart at catcher Wednesday, so it doesn't appear they intend to give Flores extended run behind the plate down the stretch, but he will get his feet wet at first base.

Paul Skenes - Stumbles against Cubbies
Skenes (10-10) took the loss Tuesday, giving up three runs on seven hits and three walks over 3.2 innings as the Pirates were downed 4-1 by the Cubs. He struck out six.
Impact
The young right-hander hurt his Cy Young case with his shortest outing of the season, one that got off to an ominous start when Michael Busch led off the game with a solo homer. Despite the stumble, Skenes still leads the NL in strikeouts (209) and ERA (2.03) and sits third in innings with 181.2, and his 0.96 WHIP is second only to the Padres' Nick Pivetta (0.95). Skenes lines up to make one more start before the end of the season, on the road in Cincinnati next week.

Bryan Reynolds - Day off Wednesday
Reynolds is not in the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Cubs.
Impact
It's a routine day off for Reynolds, who is in a 4-for-31 stretch at the plate over his last eight contests. Nick Yorke is occupying right field and batting seventh for the Pirates.
