Medina has just one minor-league option year remaining, so he will likely debut next year out of the big-league bullpen. The 23-year-old righty has a 3.38 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 81 strikeouts and 40 walks in 72 innings this year in a repeat of Double-A. If his command improves, Medina could be Oakland's closer of the future.

He has a 2.05 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 15:5 K:BB in 22 innings (seven appearances) in the big leagues this season. Sears is a command/control artist who throws three pitches and relies on spotting his fastball, which he throws roughly 60 percent of the time. He had a 1.67 ERA, 0.86 WHIP and 55 strikeouts in 43 innings at Triple-A.

Adam Oller - Gives up four in loss Oller gave up four earned runs on seven hits and no walks while striking out six over 6.1 innings to take the loss in a 4-1 defeat against the White Sox on Sunday.

Impact Oller managed six strikeouts against the White Sox but he received little run support and is stuck at one win on the season despite making seven starts. The silver lining for Oller is that the outing was his best start of the year and his ERA has now dropped slightly to 7.68. The 27-year-old right hander will look to build some momentum in his next start which tentatively lines up for Sunday versus the Giants.

Impact Gelof was sidelined for approximately a month and a half with a torn labrum in his left shoulder before rejoining the Midland lineup shortly before the All-Star break. Since the injury was to his non-throwing shoulder, Gelof has been able to pick up starts at both second and third base upon returning from the IL. The 20-year-old is one of the Athletics' top prospects and has impressed over his first two years in the minors after being selected 26th overall by Oakland in 2020. Impact Lowrie played nearly a full game and seemed to have rediscovered his stroke at the plate following a 1-for-11 showing over his first three rehab contests. Lowrie's extended stint on defense was also a good sign for his previously injured shoulder, and it remains to be seen if the Athletics feel he's shown enough to be deemed ready for activation to open the week.
