Andrew Vaughn - Hitting on field Vaughn (hand) began hitting on the field Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Impact Vaughn was cleared to begin swinging a bat earlier in the week, and he has now started to hit for the first time since undergoing surgery to address a fractured hamate bone. He's slated to visit a doctor Tuesday, at which point he could be cleared to begin a rehab assignment and remain on track for an early-to-mid-May return.

Gary Sánchez - Not in Friday's lineup Sanchez is not in the Brewers' starting lineup against the Pirates on Friday.
Impact Sanchez has been seeing more time as the Brewers' designated hitter in the absence of Christian Yelich (groin), but the former will be idle for the start of Friday's contest while Tyler Black operates as the team's DH and bats in the cleanup spot. Over his last 10 games, Sanchez has gone 8-for-35 (.229) with two home runs and eight RBI.

Joey Ortiz - Sitting down Friday Ortiz isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Pirates
Impact Ortiz will get a day to rest after snapping his six-game hitless streak with his single against the Tigers on Thursday. David Hamilton will start at shortstop Friday while Luis Rengifo mans the hot corner.

Brewers make sudden Luis Matos decision after Giants trade | Sporting News There are a few moving parts here.
6 DAYS AGO • SPORTINGNEWS.COM
Shane Drohan - Added to big-league roster The Brewers recalled Drohan from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Drohan was ineffective in a spot start earlier this month, allowing three runs on three hits and four walks over 2.2 innings. The left-hander will operate as a long reliever during this stint in the big leagues.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Carlos Rodriguez - Optioned to Triple-A The Brewers optioned Rodriguez to Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Rodriguez has allowed one run with a 5:0 K:BB across two two-inning relief outings with the big club. His spot on the roster and in the bullpen will be absorbed by Shane Drohan.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Luis Matos - Removed from 40-man roster The Brewers designated Matos for assignment Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Matos was acquired via trade shortly after Opening Day but went only 4-for-20 with a 1:7 BB:K. He could report to Triple-A Nashville is he clears waivers, though some teams could try to claim the 24-year-old with the hope it could coax more out of him.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Tyler Black - Summoned to big leagues The Brewers recalled Black from Triple-A Nashville on Friday, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Black has hit .282/.378/.410 with one home run and two steals in 10 games for Nashville since returning from an undisclosed injury. The left-handed bat could see some action against right-handed pitching while the Brewers navigate injuries to Christian Yelich (groin), Jackson Chourio (hand) and Andrew Vaughn (hand).
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Braylon Payne - Producing at High-A Payne is 14-for-40 (.350) with four home runs, eight RBI, six steals and an 11:13 BB:K through 12 games with High-A Wisconsin.
Impact The Brewers promoted Payne to the High-A level this year despite a so-so 2025 campaign with Low-A Carolina, and he has seized the opportunity. Payne slipped on some prospect lists, but he was a first-round pick just two years ago and will not turn 20 years old until August, so there remains reason for intrigue.
APRIL 24 • ROTOWIRE
Jesus Made - Tacks on three steals Made went 3-for-4 with a walk, two RBI and three steals in a game with Double-A Biloxi on Thursday.
Impact It was another stellar showing for Made, who racked up multiple hits for the sixth time in 16 games -- a span over which he posted a 1.119 OPS -- and upped his stolen-base count on the season to 11. There is not much room for Made to advance up prospect lists, but he has only solidified his standing as one of the top up-and-comers in the game.

Brandon Sproat - No-decision vs. Tigers Sproat did not factor into the decision Thursday against the Tigers, allowing three runs on four hits and two walks over 5.1 innings. He struck out four.
Impact Sproat gave up a two-run homer to Riley Greene with two outs in the first inning, but he'd settle in and hold Detroit off the board until the sixth inning, when they'd tack on another run. The 25-year-old Sproat had given up two runs over 10.1 innings in his previous two outings. Overall, his ERA sits at 6.45 with a 1.57 WHIP and 20:13 K:BB across 22.1 innings this season. Sproat tentatively lines up to face the Diamondbacks at home in his next start.

Craig Yoho - Activated, optioned to Triple-A The Brewers reinstated Yoho (calf) from the injured list Thursday and optioned him to Triple-A Nashville, Todd Rosiak of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Impact Yoho has been on the injured list all season due to a right calf strain that he suffered during spring training. However, he's been playing in rehab games at Nashville since Sunday and has already pitched 2.1 shutout innings with the Sounds. The 26-year-old righty has dominated minor-league hitters throughout his minor-league career but gave up seven earned runs in just 8.2 innings with the Brewers last season. If he's able to come back from injury and right the ship in Triple-A, it may not be long before he gets another chance in Milwaukee's bullpen.

Quinn Priester - Struggles in first rehab start Priester (wrist) yielded four runs on three walks while recording just two outs in his first rehab start with Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Impact After walking the first hitter of the game, Priester bounced back with consecutive strikeouts. Unfortunately, he then hit the next batter with a pitch before issuing two straight walks, the second of which forced in a run and spelled the end of his night. Three more runs were charged to his line after reliever Peter Strzelecki served up a grand slam. Even more disturbing than Priester's line was his velocity, as he averaged only 91.2 mph with his sinker (down from last year's 93.9 mph) and 88.9 mph with his cutter (down from last year's 92.3 mph). It was Priester's first game action since last October, so it's possible his velocity will rise as he gets ramped up. However, given that he's coming back from thoracic outlet syndrome symptoms, there's a chance the velocity will remain down. Priester will need multiple more rehab starts before the Brewers consider reinserting him into their rotation.
