Jaylen Brown, Kristaps Porzingis sit out Boston's game in Philadelphia
PHILADELPHIA (AP) — The Boston Celtics will be without Jaylen Brown and Kristaps Porzingis for Wednesday night's nationally televised game against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Porzingis missed his first game of the season because of a right-knee contusion while Brown was listed as out with a non-COVID illness.
Brown had played in all 10 of Boston’s games before Wednesday, averaging 22.9 points per game.
“He woke up this morning and said he wasn’t feeling well,” Mazzula said. “We tried to get him more rest, and it didn’t get much better after shootaround.”
Porzingis is averaging 19.7 points a game and was coming off a 21-point outing on Monday night in the Celtics' 114-98 win over the New York Knicks.
“He said that he was pretty comfortable with it,” Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla said. “It's just a bruise and managing it should be good to go.”
This is Boston's second and final regular-season trip to face Philadelphia. On Oct. 8, the 76ers beat the Celtics 106-103.
