2024 WNBA odds: Will turmoil affect Caitlin Clark's Rookie of the Year campaign?

Updated Jun. 3, 2024 2:49 p.m. ET

Caitlin Clark's WNBA career is off to a bit of a rocky start — but not in the way most might think.

After being selected No. 1 by the Indiana Fever in the 2024 WNBA Draft back in April, Clark is averaging 16.9 points, 6.5 assists and 5.4 rebounds through 10 games.

However, she's shooting just 37.6% from the field and 31% from beyond the arc, and the Fever are 2-8 to start the season.

But that's not even the half of what's been going on around Clark.

Despite the eyeballs that Clark has brought with her from Iowa to the WNBA — for example, the Fever have already surpassed their home attendance from all of last season in just five home games with Clark in the fold — she hasn't received much of a warm welcome from her peers.

Things came to a head on Saturday, when Clark's Fever faced off with the Chicago Sky, featuring Clark rival Angel Reese.

With seconds to go in the third quarter, Sky guard Chennedy Carter shoved Clark to the ground on an inbounds play.

The moment set X ablaze, with many taking Carter to task for the foul, as well as Clark's teammates, for not intervening to protect Indiana's superstar.

In the end, the Fever won thea game 71-70. Clark finished with 11 points, eight rebounds and six assists, adding in five turnovers.

While Clark is fourth in the league in assists (6.5 per game), she is first in turnovers (5.6 per game).

Getting back to the oddsboard, Reese made a huge jump from where she sat before the season, moving all the way to +1200 after being at +3500 to enter the year.

She finished the game against the Fever with nine points and 13 rebounds. She is seventh in the league in rebounds (8.9 per game).
