The Arizona Coyotes already claim two wins over the San Jose Sharks among their eight victories this season, but getting No. 3 on Tuesday night will require a little extra effort.
The first two victories -- by identical 3-2 scores, one in regulation, one in overtime -- came at Gila River Arena earlier this month, but the third matchup comes at the SAP Center in San Jose, where the Coyotes have lost their last four games.
The game can be seen on FOX Sports Arizona and FOX Sports GO, starting at 7:30 p.m.
San Jose (12-9-1) has picked up at least one point in 11 straight matchups (8-0-3) vs. Arizona.
"For them, in this building, they just want to pound shots on net, kind of create some chaos down there, so we have to be aware of that," Coyotes defenseman Alex Goligoski said.
San Jose has won three of four on its current homestand to improve to 7-3-0 at SAP Center.
Logan Couture and Brent Burns have four goals apliece on home ice, and Burns has a team-high total of eight goals overall. He and Joe Pavelski share the Sharks' scoring lead with 20 points.
Pavelski comes into this contest on a six-game points streak. He has six goals and eight assists in his last 11 games vs. the Coyotes.
Arizona (8-10-2) is in search of a season-best third consecutive win after a home-and-home sweep of Edmonton. The Coyotes are 3-1-2 in their last six road games after opening the season with five consecutive losses on the road.
"I think we've definitely improved. The early road trip hurt us, and we learned some lessons from that. The last little while here our games have looked better ... we've just got to keep building every day," Goligoski said.
Radim Vrbata and Max Domi lead the Coyotes with 14 points apiece, and Vrbata has a team-high seven goals.
Mike Smith made a season-high 43 saves in the win over the Sharks on Nov. 19. In his career, he is 11-7-2 with four shutouts, a .943 save percentage and 2.09 goals-against average vs. the Sharks.
