Crandall scores 37 in 2nd half, North Dakota beats Troy (Nov 10, 2017)

HONOLULU (AP) Geno Crandall made three straight free throws in the final seconds as North Dakota held off Troy 83-80 in the Outrigger Resort Rainbow Classic on Friday night.

Crandall started his season with a flare, scoring 37 of his career-best 41 points in the second half. He scored 22 straight points to open the second half. Crandall was 7 of 9 from beyond the arc and made 15 of 19 field-goal attempts. He also made 4 of 8 free throws.

Dale Jones was the only other Hawk to get in double figures, scoring 11 points and hauling down five rebounds.

Conner Avants made a layup to give North Dakota an 80-78 lead with 1:20 remaining. Juan Davis Jr. made two free throws to tie the game at 80-80. Crandall then sank three shots from the line to win it.

Wesley Person led Troy with 25 points. Jordon Varnado had 24 points and 11 rebounds.
