World Cup Group Scenarios: Which teams advanced to Round of 16?

AL KHOR, Qatar β€” We reached the end of the group stage, which wrapped on Friday. Here's how each group finished up and here's the full bracket for the Round of 16 and beyond!

GROUP A

  • The Netherlands won Group A with a win over Qatar. The team will face the United States (Group B runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Saturday on FOX.
  • Senegal finished as the runner-up in Group A with a win over Ecuador. The team will face England (Group B winner) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Sunday on FS1.
  • Ecuador was eliminated with a loss on Tuesday.
  • Qatar was eliminated in its second group stage match.

GROUP B

  • England won Group B with its win against Wales. The team will face Senegal (Group A runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Sunday on FS1.
  • The United States finished as the runner-up in Group B with a win over Iran. The team will face the Netherlands (Group A winner) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Saturday on FOX.
  • Iran finished in third place in Group B and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
  • Wales finished in fourth place in Group B and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

GROUP C

  • Argentina bounced back to win Group C with its win against Poland. The team will face Australia (Group D runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Saturday on FOX.
  • Poland finished second in Group C by winning the goal-differential tiebreaker over Mexico and advanced to the knockout round for the first time since 1986. The team will face France (Group D winner) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Sunday on FS1.
  • Mexico, despite its win against Saudi Arabia, finished third in Group C and failed to advance out of the Group Stage for the first time since 1978.
  • Saudi Arabia finished fourth in Group C and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

GROUP D

  • France finished atop Group D by winning the goal-differential tiebreaker over Australia despite a loss to Tunisia. The team will face Poland (Group C runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Sunday on FS1.
  • Australia finished second in Group D with its win against Denmark, and advanced to the knockout round for the first time since 2006. The team will take on Argentina (Group C winner) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Saturday on FOX.
  • Tunisia finished in third place in Group D and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
  • Denmark finished in fourth place in Group D and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

GROUP E

  • Japan won Group E with a victory over Spain, and advanced to the Round of 16. The team will face Croatia (Group F runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Monday on FOX.
  • Spain finished second in Group E despite its loss against Japan, and advanced to the knockout round via the goal-differential tiebreaker. The team will face Morocco (Group F winner) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday on FOX.
  • Germany finished third in Group E despite its win against Costa Rica. This marks the first time in national team history that Germany has been eliminated from consecutive men's World Cups in the group stage.
  • Costa Rica finished fourth in Group E and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

GROUP F

  • Morocco won Group F with its victory over Canada and advanced to the knockout round for the first time since 1986. The team will face Spain (Group E runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Tuesday on FOX.
  • Croatia finished second in Group F with its draw against Belgium and advanced to the knockout round. The team will face Japan (Group E winner) in the Round of 16 at 10 a.m. ET Monday on FOX.
  • Belgium finished third in Group F and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
  • Canada was eliminated in its second Group Stage match. With its loss against Morocco, the team is still winless all-time at the FIFA Men's World Cup (six losses in six men's World Cup matches in its history).

GROUP G

  • Brazil won Group G despite a loss against Cameroon via goal-differential tiebreaker, claiming the top spot in the initial group stage for the 11th consecutive FIFA Men's World Cup. The team will face South Korea (Group H runner-up) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Monday on FOX.
  • Switzerland finished second in Group G with its win over Serbia, and advanced to the knockout round. The team will face Portugal (Group H winner) in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday on FOX.
  • Cameroon finished third in Group G and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
  • Serbia finished fourth in Group G and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.

GROUP H

  • Portugal, which already advanced to the knockout round entering Friday, won Group H despite a loss against South Korea. The team will face Switzerland in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Tuesday on FOX.
  • South Korea finished second in Group H with a win over Portugal via goals-scored tiebreaker and advanced to the knockout round. The team will face Brazil in the Round of 16 at 2 p.m. ET Monday on FOX.
  • Uruguay finished third in Group H despite a win over Ghana and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
  • Ghana finished fourth in Group H and was eliminated from the FIFA World Cup.
