Vikings coach Zimmer returns to work after latest eye procedure

June 5, 2017

Minnesota Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer is celebrating his 61st birthday as only Mike Zimmer can.

He's getting back to work.

The Vikings announced Monday morning that Zimmer has been cleared to return to the team after missing two weeks of work due to another round of eye surgery.

Zimmer -- who was diagnosed with a detached retina on Nov. 1 following the Vikings' loss to the Bears last season -- has had eight surgeries since the incident.

Zimmer missed just one game last season but sported an eye-patch and sunglasses following the incident.
