Suns agree to contract with Zoran Dragic

PHOENIX -- A Suns' offseason that before this week produced little to inspire the NBA's national following is closing with considerable activity.
One day after signing restricted free agent Eric Bledsoe, it was reported Phoenix, as expected, reached an agreement on a two-year contract with Zoran Dragic. The agreement was reported first on Twitter by trendbasket.net.
Dragic, the younger brother of Suns star Goran Dragic, also agreed to buyout terms with his previous team, Unicaja Malaga of the Spanish League. What had been a buyout of $1.1 million reportedly was negotiated down to an even $1 million; the Suns can pay up to $600,000 of that amount.
"Zoki," a 25-year-old, 6-foot-5 guard, teamed with Goran during a strong run by Slovenia at the FIBA World Cup in Spain last month. Zoran's efforts were impressive enough to attract attention from a handful of NBA teams.
The attraction of playing with his older brother, who can opt out of his current Suns contract next summer, was enticing enough to bring Zoran to Phoenix. The Suns will hold their annual media day on Monday at US Airways Center, and leave immediately afterward for training camp in Flagstaff. It has been reported Zoran could be in Arizona by then.
According to another Internet post, Zoran's deal with the Suns is worth $3.5 million for the next two seasons and does not include a team or player option.
The younger Dragic, who played for Malaga the past two years, averaged 10.3 points per game last season. He made 28.6 percent of his 3-point attempts and shot 52 percent from inside the 3-point arc.
In seven World Cup games for Slovenia, Zoran averaged 12.9 points and 26 minutes per game. He connected on 43.3 percent of his 3s.
The Suns, who are attempting to blur the lines traditionally separating positions, have eye-popping depth on the perimeter. In addition to the Dragic brothers and Bledsoe, Phoenix have free-agent acquisition Isaiah Thomas, the mercurial Gerald Green, second-year pro Archie Goodwin and rookie Tyler Ennis under contract.
