Rays to Cubs: The 'Devil' is in the details

BY foxsports • August 8, 2014

A flag outside Wrigley Field needs to get with the times.

The Tampa Bay Rays began a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs on Friday in a rare visit to Wrigley Field. How rare? It seems the Cubs haven't updated their "Devil Rays" flag since Tampa Bay's most recent visit to the Friendly Confines from June 3-5, 2003.

The Devil Rays, of course, became the Rays starting in the 2008 season. The Rays' official Twitter account offered some humor at the retro sight, suggesting that an "Orphans" flag was coming the Cubs' way in Chicago's next visit to Tropicana Field. (The Cubs were known as the Orphans in the late 1890s and early 1900s.)

Given that Tampa Bay's visits to Chicago's North side are few and far between, this mistake can be forgiven.
