Mets' Colon legs out a double, first hit since 2005

Updated Mar. 4, 2020 10:30 p.m. ET

Congratulations to New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon, who slapped a double off Cardinals pitcher Lance Lynn in the sixth inning in St. Louis on Wednesday, easily legging it out after the ball skirted around the left-field wall.

It's the big man's first hit this season and first double of his 17-year career, spent mostly in the American League (123 career at bats). Colon's double wouldn't be so remarkable if he hadn't looked so completely inpet at the plate in his previous 26 at-bats this season. He was also hitless in his previous 43 at-bats. Remember this cut on April 20 when Colon faced Atlanta Braves starter Ervin Santana?
