University of Minnesota women's basketball star Rachel Banham emulated her basketball idol Kobe Bryant on Sunday, scoring 60 points in a 112-106 double-overtime victory over Northwestern.

On Tuesday, she received two congratulatory tweets from the Los Angeles Lakers star himself.

The exchange began with a Tweet from the Big Ten Network. Bryant took it from there, praising Banham's performance and guessing that she very well may do it again.

Banham was in the middle of an interview when a Gophers staff member showed her the first Tweet. She was thrilled, showing everyone she could.

"It's incredible. I'm still so happy and almost shocked," Banham told KSTP-TV on Tuesday. "I've texted everyone in my phone book and was showing them it. I don't even know what to say, but it's incredible and I'm so happy that he reached out."

Banham, a Lakeville native, earned Big Ten and national player of the week honors for her record-setting performance.

She and the Gophers return to action on Thursday, taking on Nebraska at 7 p.m. at Williams Arena.
