Dwight Howard: My goal is to play 20 years in the NBA
Dwight Howard said last year that he was too old to compete in the NBA Slam Dunk Contest again, however, he hopes to keep playing for another decade.
"That's always been my goal to play 20 years in the league so I think it can be done," Howard told the Houston Chronicle. "It would be great."
The Rockets were in San Antonio on Wednesday and will face 38-year-old Tim Duncan and the Spurs again on Friday.
"Tim is still playing great basketball," Howard said. "He has migrated to different spots on the floor instead of just the post."
Duncan is in his 17th season, and 29-year-old Howard isn't that far behind in his 11th year in the league. The biggest difference is Duncan has five championships with the same team, while Howard, on his third team, is still chasing his first.
"When you play that long, you get an opportunity to do a lot of different things," Howard said. "God willing, I will play this game as long as I can. It brings a lot of joy to myself and to other people around me. Hopefully I can continue to play at a high level."
