Zach Strief says Andrus Peat is 'taking my job eventually'
Zach Strief has carved out a role for himself on the offensive line for the New Orleans Saints, but the 31-year-old lineman knows that there's a new guy in town who's gearing up to try to take his job.
As Katherine Terrell of NOLA.com points out, Strief is a realist.
"I understand how it works. I also understand that I'm not playing forever. I never intended to," said Strief, who signed a five-year deal worth a reported $20 million.
"He's taking my job eventually," Strief told NOLA.com. "That is definitely happening. At some point, that's happening. My job and my role is to make that take as long as possible. And that's how I'll approach it."
The "he" that Strief mentions above is rookie Andrus Peat, who's already made some noise after rookie minicamp. It's good news for Saints fans that they've drafted someone who's expected to make the impact that Peat is, but it's also good to see how Strief is approaching the whole situation.
