WR Thompkins on return to Patriots: 'This place is like home to me'

The New England Patriots have dealt with their share of injuries at the wide receiver position thus far, which has led them to make several moves over the past few weeks.

Among those moves were the release of Reggie Wayne and the signing of Kenbrell Thompkins, who played for the Patriots from 2013 to 2014. Thompkins signed with the Patriots as an undrafted rookie in 2013 and went on to catch 4 touchdown passes as a rookie. He would finish the 2014 season with the Oakland Raiders before being released a few weeks ago.

New England brought Thompkins back by signing him to the practice squad on Sept. 7, much to the delight of the young receiver.

"This place is like home to me," Thompkins said via Ryan Hannable of WEEI. "This organization took me in as an undrafted rookie and just to be here and develop the relationship with the people in this organization — just when I had the opportunity to come back it was something I couldn’t turn down."

Thompkins may not be on the 53-man roster as of now, but the goal is to earn his way back onto the active roster. In order to do so, he'll need to put on a show in practice and prove that he can help the team on Sundays.

"I’m going out there just trying to get the whole lingo and everything back down," Thompkins said. "Right now I am doing everything I need to do to go out there and make sure that I am on top of the things they want me to be on top of."
