With Hyde continuing to sit, 49ers nearing decision on status

The San Francisco 49ers appear to be moving closer to making a decision on the status of running back Carlos Hyde for the rest of the season.
Hyde did not practice again Thursday as he deals with a stress fracture in his foot that has kept the second-year running back off the field since a 20-3 loss to the Seattle Seahawks on Oct. 22.
"For legal reasons, for all kinds of reasons, I’m not going to talk about the specifics of a guy’s injury," coach Jim Tomsula said per CSNBayArea.com. "We truly do leave that up to the doctors and the medical staff to monitor that and stay on top of that, along with Carlos.
"That’s where that starts and then we are informed. It’s clearly two different things when it comes to an injury. We’re not going to cross over the coaching lines and the medical field.”
Hyde injured the foot in a loss at the New York Giants on Oct. 11. He remained in the lineup for the next two games but was ineffective in losses to the Baltimore Ravens and Seahawks.
Roster decisions could also impact Hyde's status. San Francisco has until Monday to place center Daniel Kilgore and rookie wide receiver DeAndre Smelter on the 53-man roster or season-ending injured reserve. Both players have been on the physically unable to perform list.
.@angryvein21 Carlos Hyde has been shut down since Oct. 22. #49ers might need roster spots for Daniel Kilgore and DeAndre Smelter by Monday.
