WEST PORT 29 CENTRAL 6

Published Oct. 12, 2010 10:18 p.m. ET

Central won only one game in 2009, and that was against its opponent Friday night. The results weren't so kind this season.

West Port wasn't the most hospitable host as it jumped all over the Bears early to win 29-6 in a Class 4A, District 5 contest.

Central (1-5) enters its bye week with many more questions now than answers on both sides of the ball.

"That shows where kids need to mature and fight through some of these times and move on," Central coach Mike Einspahr said. "A lot of these kids haven't been involved in this program in the past. It's not just about throwing a helmet on. You have to work."

Against West Port (2-4), the Central defense held the Wolf Pack out of the red zone on the first few drives, but it finally scored, then stretched the lead to 15-0 on the final play of the half.

The only score for the Bears came on a 60-yard punt return from DeAntre Jackson in the third quarter to close the gap to 15-6. The nine-point deficit was short-lived, however, and West Port went on to the big district win.

TAMPA - Nelson Agholor ran for two first-half touchdowns and Berkeley Prep improved to 2-0 in district play with a 42-0 win over Lakeland Christian. The Bucs have outscored opponents 129-7 in the past three weeks.

Berkeley Prep (5-1) wasted no time putting points up against the Vikings (1-5), scoring on first-quarter rushing touchdowns by Agholor and Schyler Miles. The Bucs blew the game open on the first play of the second quarter, as Destin Nichols connected with Christian Hardegree on a 46-yard touchdown. Agholor and Miles added their second rushing touchdowns of the night to give the Bucs a 35-0 lead at the half.

Agholor led all runners with 10 carriers for 166 yards .
