Website paid $12K for alleged Favre pics
Sports news website Deadspin paid $12,000 for allegedly racy photos and suggestive text messages from Minnesota Vikings quarterback Brett Favre, Business Insider reported Thursday.
The images that have created plenty of controversy for the legendary quarterback were allegedly sent by Favre to then-Jets in-house reporter Jenn Sterger via cellphone.
Deadspin, owned by Gawker media, posted a video montage containing the voice messages and explicit photographs on Oc. 7. The post currently has nearly 5 million page views.
"I love paying for information," Gawker boss Nick Denton said at a news conference in New York on Thursday, where he revealed the $12,000 figure.
Favre, 41, is being investigated for potentially violating the NFL’s personal conduct policy after allegations that he sent Sterger, 27, inappropriate messages and pictures of himself while he was playing for the team in 2008. Favre currently plays for the Minnesota Vikings.
Favre has admitted sending voice messages but denied forwarding lewd photographs to Sterger — a former model.
