The Miami Dolphins held a moment of silence for Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, creating an emotional moment at Hard Rock Stadium
Just after the announcement of the tragic death of Miami Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez, the Miami Dolphins obviously felt the affects. The 24-year-old ace was an important and engrained figure in the city. Thus, it only made sense for the Dolphins to do their best to pay tribute to the hurler after he died early in a boating accident early on Sunday morning.
The Dolphins organization announced that they would hold a moment of silence on Sunday prior to kickoff. Given the nature of Fernandez’s passing, you knew it was going to be an emotional scene on Sunday afternoon at Hard Rock Stadium.
Prior to the start of the game and with the rest of the traditional ceremonies ahead of the matchup against the Cleveland Browns, the Dolphins and the crowd indeed honored the pitcher.

That’s truly a somber, sad feeling emanating from the Dolphins crowd. As it should be considering the tragedy of the situation.
Jose Fernandez was far more than just one of the best pitchers in baseball. He was a sign of hope for the Cuban community in Miami and an important figure in the city because of that. Moreover, every story you hear about the young man was that he was as nice and upstanding as they come. This is truly a huge loss for the Marlins, the city, and of course his family.
