Vikings DE Griffen not worried about prediction, pumping up Lions

Minnesota Vikings defensive end Everson Griffen stirred a simmering NFC North stew and provided the Detroit Lions with some valuable bulletin board material when he promised a victory on Sunday at TCF Bank Stadium this week.

On Twitter, Lions running back Joique Bell let Griffen and the Vikings know that the message was received -- loud and clear.

Griffen said he has no concern about his fiery comments motivating the Lions, according to Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. He also clarified that he didn't think of them as a guarantee.

"I’m not looking at the game as a guarantee game, but it’s a must-win game," Griffen said, per the Pioneer Press. "It’s a division game (in the NFC North), so it’s a must-win game. So, yeah, I’m trying to get the boys going by getting them fired up and getting them ready to play Detroit."

We'll see if Griffen's "guarantee" will hold up or if he'll eat his words when the Vikings and Lions go head-to-head this Sunday.
