Tyrann Mathieu promises he's in 'beast mode' during knee rehab

Arizona Cardinals safety Tyrann Mathieu has overcome plenty of adversity in the past, but now he's facing a different kind of obstacle: making a comeback from a torn ACL.

When asked on Twitter how his rehabilitation is going, Mathieu assured his followers that he is in "beast mode."

Mathieu is a 5-foot-9, 186-pound safety who was enjoying an explosive third season before blowing out his knee in a Week 15 matchup against the Philadelphia Eagles. The injury occurred while he was intercepting his fifth pass of the season. The former third-round draft pick -- who was dismissed from LSU's football team in 2012 -- also recorded 89 tackles (80 solo, nine for losses), 17 defended passes, a sack, a forced fumble and a defensive touchdown in 2015.

Mathieu is still only 23 years old, so he's young enough to make a full comeback. He could even come back stronger, judging by the determination he has displayed through his first three years as a professional.
